February 2006 : Welcome to the Trial Phase for the WA Indicator Frameworks System (WAIFS) – a tool for the Western Australian State Government. WAIFS will facilitate searches of the key indicator frameworks of State Government for quick summary statistics, enables monitoring of longer term outcomes over time, and identification of opportunities for across-government collaborative action to achieve shared goals.
WAIFS is in its trial phase and its functionality is limited to mapping indicators within the following frameworks:
- Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage Framework
- Indigenous Women’s Scorecard
- Wellbeing Indicators for Children and Youth
To test the system please use the ‘Theme Selector’ above the ‘Advanced Search’ (the Advanced Search is not currently operational, but indicates types of advanced searches that are planned). This will display all indicators matching the selected theme.
A search on the Theme Selector (to the left, above the Advanced Search) will display all relevant frameworks and indicators.
The Western Australian Indicator Frameworks System is a container of high level indicator frameworks of the WA State Government. It enables the user to:
- quickly access summary statistical information
- identify common areas of interest across Government agencies by searching the Cube Theme Selector
- do an Advanced Search for more specific statistical information
- search the Dictionary for definitions of key terms
- contact home agencies holding data bases relating to themes, or home agencies with carriage of reporting against frameworks, and
- access metadata on State Government administrative dataholdings
Searching can be done by:
- Indicator Framework -> Clicking within the Cube on an indicator framework to view all its indicators
- Theme -> Using the drop down menu on the Cube Theme Selector to view all indicator frameworks reporting against common themes
- Advanced Search -> further refining your search query
The WAIFS facility has been developed as a prototype by the Department of Indigenous Affairs in conjunction with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Treasury and Finance through the State Government's Statistical Policy Committee.
